PinaLove.com is a fun and colorful online dating site for those who want to meet people from the Philippines for friendship and dating. It's one of the better value sites featured in our top 10 and manages to offer all the features you'd expect in an easy to navigate site. Standard members get a great deal for free and can get in touch with other members in a variety of ways. Whilst the premium membership is great value, there aren't many original features and the small membership base might make you think twice about snapping up this bargain.  

PinaLove.com is one of the few sites in this category that caters to those searching for men, women and ladyboys. So, if gender-bending's your thing then you might check out the site. The problem is that you won't find a huge number of ladyboys on the site; there were just 70 at the time of the review. Taking male and female members into account too, the membership base isn't huge, with profiles running into the thousands rather than hundreds of thousands. The fact that the site doesn't put a figure on the number of members online on its homepage also raises the suspicion that it's not exactly buzzing here. There were less than a thousand members online when we checked.

The amount of profile detail is disappointingly brief and basic; if you find trawling through detailed profiles a little tedious, you won't find this to be a problem. In contrast, member photos are detailed and of an impressive size. You can view photos in full screen size too. A significant proportion of profiles are incomplete or lack any photos, indicating that they may be fake or inactive. Luckily, profiles list last login date, making it easier to see whether a profile is active. You might see a warning on the site about sending money to members, so a profile verification system would be ideal, but hadn't been introduced at the time of this review.

On the plus side, it's free to join and you get a remarkable number of features for no fee. Free members can send email, though you're limited to sending one every 10 minutes. Free members can also 'show interest', which is a way of quickly breaking the ice and showing that you like another member by sending an automated message. Moreover, free members can also create a list of their favorite profiles and even add private notes to profiles that only they can read; quite handy for recording meeting dates or impressions about that member. One major area that's off limits however, is the online chat and webcam facility; you'll need to upgrade to get access to this feature. The free search is quite basic and premium members get very little extra, save for a proximity criterion (search by proximity to a specified city) and a feature that allows you to list newest profiles first.. 

Upgrade subscription fees for PinaLove.com are some of the most competitive that you'll find; you can save up to 66% if you sign up for a year. Without wishing to sound too cynical, it's likely that this is an attempt to boost members. Upgrading to premium membership grants you completely open communication with all members plus some extra privileges, including the online chat feature mentioned above. You also get a 'stealth mode' feature in which you can use the site whilst appearing offline, become featured at the top of search results, and enhanced search, which allows you to search by proximity to a specified location and return newest profiles in search results. Premium members also receive notifications when their emails are read and can view the last 25 members who visited their profile or who added them to their favorites list. If you're unsure about whether to upgrade, there's a 15 day refund policy, allowing you a couple of weeks to decide whether you want to stay, with no financial penalty.

Whilst there's plenty of help and guidance on the site, and it is relatively simple to use and navigate, there isn't a dedicated FAQs page. A central point of access would be useful, but there's always email support if you can't find the help you need by browsing the site.

Whilst PinaLove.com is a great value site for dating in the Philippines, the chances of finding a date are affected by a distinct lack of members. You won't find too many bells or whistles either, but the features on offer are useful and easy to use.
