FilipinoToDate.com lacks the polished look of some of the other sites in this category but offers all the standard features you would expect. There's a particular emphasis on conveying a somewhat lofty sense of Filipino heritage and identity, which is lacking in its competitors. What lets it down is the lack of online activity, which puts a dent in your hopes of finding a date anytime soon.

It's free to join FilipinoToDate.com and registering won't take too long. Just make sure that you have a valid email address. On signing up you're assured that all Filipino women on the site can speak English, so there shouldn't be a language barrier. On browsing profiles you'll notice that each is awarded between 1 and 5 stars. To get more stars you need to fully complete your profile and update it regularly, as well as uploading your 'most glamorous' photos. The idea is that those with the most stars get the most notice. Members can also lose stars for misdemeanors such as operating scams, uploading fake photos or asking for money from other members. 

Despite featuring thousands of profiles, there were very few members online at the time of this review, which suggests that a significant proportion of profiles are fake or inactive. This is an important consideration in choosing a dating site, as low online activity will undoubtedly affect your chances of finding a date. It's therefore worth having a good look around the site at some of the profiles before contemplating making any kind of financial commitment. 

Profiles cover a reasonable range of criteria but aren't very detailed. From the thumbnails you encounter when browsing, you can view a member's profile photo (plus how many additional photos have been added), as well as some basic details (including last login date to help you tell if the member is still active on the site). From here it's possible to access the full profile and contact that member in a range of ways. You can get in touch with other members by email, using the chat room or by sending a 'smile' to initiate contact. It's also possible to add a member profile to your favorites list when browsing. Only female members with 3 stars or more can use the online chat room, as can male members who've upgraded .You can also turn your profile 'off', which prevents it being seen by other members until you switch it 'on' again.

In order for male members to get the most out of the site you must upgrade. Enhanced features of upgraded membership include being able to send and receive unlimited email messages, IM chat and access to full profiles, as well as getting a lot more attention than free members. If you're a free member you must purchase credits to use the IM feature or to send some virtual gifts.

FilipinoToDate.com is a great little site but suffers due to a lack of online activity meaning that your chances of finding a date are low. This is a shame as the features on offer are good and there's very good technical support. Maybe one to check back on in the future?
