FilipinoFriendFinder.com is brought to you by the global FriendFinder network of online dating sites, so you'd imagine that they would know a thing or two about online dating. The site looks very polished and professional, and the attention to detail and quality of features is impressive. It's a massive site too, with hundreds of thousands of members registered, as well as offering some great priced subscription rates if you decide to upgrade. However, free members get very little in the standard membership; whereas it's possible to communicate with other members as a free members on some of the other sites in this category, you'll have to pay here. Another thing to note is that there seems to be a lot of members from locations other than the Philippines.

The first thing to strike you about FilipinoFriendFinder.com is the professional appearance of the site, with simple to use features and an easy to navigate site. It's apparent that a lot of thought has gone into the design and format. However, you also get the impression that what you see is a generic template geared towards Filipino dating. You'll find no features offering guidance on travel, culture and life in the Philippines, which makes for a slightly soulless experience, unlike more tailored sites such as Cebuanas.com. FilipinoFriendFinder.com has a huge membership base, with 155,673 profile listings at the time of this review. The problem is that quite a lot of profiles feature women not from the Philippines, giving the impression that the site has been padded out with members from other sites in the FriendFinder network. There was plenty of online activity; whilst it was late in the evening in the Philippines, there were 4,313 online.

It's free to join and all you'll need is an email address in order to validate your membership when you sign up. Free members are fairly restricted in what they can view, so don't be fooled by the lack of detail when browsing profiles. To see more detail you'll need to upgrade (see below). Only Gold members get access to full member profiles, including voice and video intros. Profiles are as detailed as you'll find on any site in this category, including self-written sections. To help screen out inactive or fake profiles you can see when a member last logged in. There's also a 'ConfirmID' feature that members can use for free to verify that the profile is genuine and not just a fake or scam. Whilst there were incomplete profiles, the majority had multiple photos; again, as a free member the photo quality is small and you don't get to see all photos. Meanwhile, Gold members get to see extra-large photos.

You can get in touch with members in a number of ways. It's possible to send a 'wink' (an automated message signaling your interest in another member), exchange email, chat online using your webcam and create a list of your favorite profiles. There's also a 'Groups' feature listing 792 groups based on location or topic that you could join to meet people near you or those with similar interests. Using the Blogs feature and creating an online journal might also be a fun way of attracting interest in your profile. It's also possible to invite other members to become a friend and create a network in which you can chat, share activities and get involved in events.

There's an impressive array of search tools at your disposal and even free members get a good choice. Free members can use the basic search, username search, video intro search and one-click tab searches (who's online, new members, members near me and more). Silver members can also specify a few extra criteria including language(s), race and proximity to your registered location. For Gold members these are extended even further to include lifestyle and appearance criteria. Gold members can also set filters so that only recently active members, or just those with voice or video intros are listed in search results. To help in your search for a date, you receive weekly 'Cupid Matches' featuring profiles of potentially compatible members.  

As mentioned, free members get very little and are limited to creating a profile, browsing profile previews and basic search tools, sending limited smiles and replying to email messages. Silver membership allows you to contact members more openly, access more complete profiles and limited access to blogs, groups and other features. Silver members also get 24/7 telephone support. If you do decide to upgrade it's worth considering Gold membership as you can get up to 6 months free if you sign up for a year (see above for prices). Gold membership also gets you access to all features (including full profiles and video/voice intros and all blog and group features), listing at the tops of search results, priority contact with new members, extra large profile photos, 24/7 priority telephone support and messenger IDs of members in your network.

Whilst it may feel a little generic and inauthentic, FilipinoFriendFinder.com is a massive site, professionally done with lots of features. There are also some great value subscription options and it's well worth taking a look if you're looking to boost your chances in the online dating world.
